2003 FAA Safety Seminar Tuesday May 20
Our annual FAA safety meeting will take place Tuesday May 20th at 7pm in the airport terminal building basement. The seminar program will include the following topics: Fuel Awareness, Aviation Jeopardy and Air Traffic Control Procedures. Everyone is welcome and refreshments will be served. Remember this satisfies the Safety Seminar requirement of the FAA Wings program. After attending this program and receiving three hours of dual instruction you will complete one phase of the Wings Program (which counts as a biennial flight review) and receive a certificate of completion and a Wings lapel pin. See the coupons enclosed with this newsletter for special offers to Wings participants this summer. What better way to kick off the flying season than with a Safety Seminar and some dual instruction? Please talk to one of our flight instructors if you have any questions about the Wings Program.

2003 the 100th Anniversary of Flight
December 17th 2003 marks the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brothers first powered flight. How do you plan to celebrate? Of course there are many Celebrations taking place this year. You could fly to Kitty Hawk, NC for the recreation of the first flight on December 17th 2003. (its only a nine hour flight one way in the Cessna 172 – anyone need any cross-country time?) You could go to EAA Airventure in Oshkosh, WI this summer. Or you could celebrate on a more local level. You could introduce a friend or family member to aviation by giving them an airplane ride. You could introduce a young person to flying by giving them an airplane ride and participating in the EAA Young Eagles Program. You could celebrate by iimproving your flying skills by participating in the Wings Program or by pursuing another certificate or rating. You could challenge yourself by taking a longer cross-country than you ever have taken. You could enjoy grass roots aviation by attending one of the many flight breakfasts or fly-ins that take place in the Midwest each summer. However you plan to celebrate this important anniversary we hope that we can help you fly in a safe economical way. We also are very grateful for your past and continued business which has allowed us to operate Classic Aviation in the first century of flight and into the next.

Tulip Time Flight Breakfast
The flight breakfast / airport open house held on May 3, 2003 was a great success. Approximately 400 people were served breakfast and approximately 75 airplanes flew in. We will plan on having the breakfast again during Tulip Time again next year and make it an annual event. Thanks to the Airport Committee and everyone else that helped make this years event a success.

Training Update
The 2003 flying season is coming upon us as our late winter and temperamental spring give way to calmer skies. As our customers resume their flying pursuits, We would like to acknowledge those who achieved milestones in 2002 and early 2003.
