Flight Instruction
Top This is the first step most of our customers choose in learning to fly. The private pilot license provides the privilege of being able to operate a variety of aircraft day or night in the national airspace system. FAA minimums: The basic requirements to receive a private pilots license are as follows: You must be at least 16 years old to solo the aircraft and at least 17 to receive a private pilots license. You must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language. You must pass an FAA Aeronautical Knowledge test prior to receiving your license. You must pass an FAA third class flight physical (a very simple physical exam similar to a high school sports physical.) Before taking the practical exam to receive your license you must have logged at least forty hours of flight time - twenty of which must be instruction received from a flight instructor and ten of which must be solo. Then finally you will take an practical exam with an FAA Designated Flight Examiner. Your private pilot's license can take you where ever you want it to: From local flights to share a different view of the sunset with friends to traveling for business or pleasure without spending hours on the road or waiting in airport security lines. If you've ever dreamed of the freedom of flying an airplane by yourself or are ready for a new challenge in life, don't wait schedule your first flying lesson today.
Pella Municipal Airport offers the perfect combination of a non-towered airport with a choice of towered and non-towered airports nearby. This combination offers efficiency in training for both types of airports.
Top After receiving a private pilots Certificate, many pilots choose to increase the utility of their license by adding an instrument rating. Imagine flying through the clouds while managing ATC communication and completing instrument approach procedures with precision. Instrument training is a challenging and fun type of training where the student gets to add precision to his or her flying as well as utility to his or her license. Classic Aviation's training aircraft are equipped with GPS to allow the student to learn the latest procedures rather than flying with outdated equipment. Classic Aviation's flight instructors are experienced instrument pilots with experience in the real-world IFR system. The FAA requires a minimum of forty hours of actual or simulated instrument flight time for this rating in addition to passing a written and practical test.
Because the instrument training opens a pilot up to operating in a complex system in a variety of weather quality flight instruction is important. Classic Aviation believes that focusing on quality flight instruction should also include investing in training tools. Classic Aviation has invested in an Elite Simulations Solutions PI-135 Aviation Training Device which is an invaluable tool for instrument instruction. The aviation training device increases efficiency and improves quality of instrument instruction by allowing the instructor to pause the flight and start a procedure over if needed.
Top Stepping up to the Commercial Certificate is often the next step after the instrument rating for aviation career bound pilots or for pilots who just want the challenge of continuing to improve there skills. The commercial pilots certificate allows a pilot to operate for hire under certain conditions and is also a prerequisite for receiving a flight instructors certificate. A commercial pilot applicant must have a minimum of 250 hours of total flight time and must demonstrate a mastery of complex aircraft and systems. Classic Aviation has a history of graduating quality commercial pilot applicants.
